Who we are

Meridian Tutors is a tutoring practice run by Rayan Raheel and Izaan Abdullah, operating online from London, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described here. Reach us at enquiries@meridiantutors.uk or +44 7938 038384.

What we collect

• When you enquire. Your name, email address, phone number if you give it, the subject and level you are asking about, the current grade you tell us, and whatever you write in the message box.
• When you become a student. Session notes, marked work you send us, the specification points covered, and the invoicing details needed to bill you.
• When you contact us directly. The content of emails, WhatsApp messages and calls, kept as a record of what was agreed.

We do not collect special category data, we do not run behavioural advertising, and we do not buy or sell contact lists.

Students under 18

Most of our students are 15 to 18 years old. Where a student is under 18, we ask that a parent or guardian makes the enquiry, or that the student confirms a parent or guardian is aware of it. A parent or guardian may ask at any time to see what we hold about their child, to sit in on a session, or to have the records deleted, and we will do it without asking for a reason.

Why we hold it, and the lawful basis

• Answering your enquiry. Legitimate interests: you asked us a question and we need your details to answer it.
• Delivering tuition. Performance of a contract with you.
• Invoices and tax records. Legal obligation, because HMRC requires us to keep them.
• Anything promotional. Consent, which you can withdraw by replying to any message and saying so.

Who else sees it

• Our form provider. The enquiry form on this site is delivered to our inbox by FormSubmit, which processes the message in transit.
• Our email and video providers. Correspondence sits in our email account, and sessions run over a video platform which processes the call.
• Google Fonts. This site loads its display typeface from Google's font service, which means your IP address is visible to Google when the page loads. If you would rather that did not happen, a browser or extension that blocks third-party font requests will stop it, and the site still works.
• Nobody else. We do not share student information with agencies, schools or anyone else without your explicit permission, unless we are legally required to, or unless there is a safeguarding concern that means a child is at risk.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and carries no advertising or tracking pixels. There is nothing here to consent to, which is why you are not being asked to click a banner.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become sessions. Twelve months, then deleted.
• Student records and session notes. Two years after the last session, so a returning student does not start from nothing.
• Invoices and financial records. Six years, because HMRC requires it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to us using it, or ask for it in a portable format. Email enquiries@meridiantutors.uk and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can fix it.

Security

Accounts holding student information are protected with two-factor authentication and strong unique passwords. We keep student records to the minimum needed to teach well. No system is perfect, and if a breach ever affected your data in a way that posed a risk to you, we would tell you and the ICO within 72 hours of finding out.

Changes

If this notice changes materially, we will update the date at the top and tell current students by email. Older versions are available on request.
